Ski training begins in Kalikot

Kathmandu, March 14

Ski training has started in Kalikot District of Karnali Province. Under the initiative of the Nepal Tourism Board and the co-organisation of Karnali Sports Council, basic ski training started on March 11 at Triveni Patan Chetadi in Kalikot.

There are 25 trainees and three trainers from Nepal Mountain Academy, local tourism professionals and others and it will continue till March 18.

Triveni Patan region is an area with great potential for skiing. According to the board, training has been organised to highlight the potential of adventure tourism and skiing in this area where there is at least 100 days of snow and 30 cm of snow for skiing in a year.

In the opening program of the training, Bimal Kandel of the Tourism Board said that the training was organised for rescuing during disasters in the Himalayan regions of Nepal and adventure tourism with the participation of the locals.
