Those who think the country is going to the dogs would do well to read this.

Nepal, a study has shown, is that country in South Asia where the rule of law is the strongest. What’s more, in a global rule of law index that covers 113 countries, Nepal figures in 63rd position, which is not bad for a country reeling under years of political instability.

According to the Rule of Law Index 2016 that the World Justice Project has made public, India is three notches below Nepal, at 66th position. Sri Lanka figures in the 68th position, Bangladesh at 103th position and Pakistan at 106th position.

Pakistan is above Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Jimbabwe, Cameron, Egypt, Colombia and Venezuela.

Worldwide, Denmark has emerged as the country with the best law and order situation, followed by Norway and Finland.

In the index, England and the US have secured 10th and 18th positions, respectively.
