RJPN reiterates demand for Lal Commission report

RJPN lawmakers obstruct the House of Representatives meeting, on Wednesday, March 13, 2019.

Kathmandu, May 5

The Madhesh-centric Rastriya Janata Party Nepal has once again demanded that the government made the report of a commission formed to investigation into the killing of police personnel in Tikapur of Kailali in August 2015.

Since the Kailali District Court convicted its lawmaker Resham Chaudhary of the killing, the party has been raising the concern over the report frequently.

After the party obstructed multiple House of Representatives meetings with the demand in March, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara had issued a ruling to the government to make the report of the panel led by former justice Girish Chandra Lal public.

However, the government is yet to heed the order. Therefore, lawmaker Laxman Lal Karna, speaking at the House meeting today, demanded that the report be made public.

He argued that it was also the Speaker’s duty to make sure that his ruling was implemented.
