Province 2 polls: Results from 12 local units out

Vote counting is underway after the third phase of local level elections in Province 2, on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

Kathmandu, September 21

Results from 12 local units of Province 2, which held voting under the third phase of local level elections on Monday, have been out.

So far, the CPN-UML has won top positions in four local units. Nepali Congress has won in two places.

However, among the units which are counting the votes, the Congress is far ahead of the UML. The Congress is leading  the countin 31 places whereas the UML is leading in just 17 places.

The CPN-Maoist Centre has won the top positions in two local units and leading the count in 17 others.

Rastriya Janata Party Nepal and Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal, which are considered regional forces, have also fared well in the polls. Candidates of RJPN and FSF-N are leading the count in 17 and 16 places respectively. These parties have secured the top-position victory in one unit each.

Nepal Democratic Forum has also won in two local units.

Counting is underway in remaining 124 of 136 local units.
