Kathmandu, October 6
Province 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut has obtained the vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly on Wednesday.
Raut received more than two-thirds of the votes in the provincial legislative.
He was required to prove the legislative body’s confidence in him to continue his government as the party he represented, Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, split with the formation of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party.
Raut was certain to obtain the vote as the constituents of the central coalition government also command the majority in the Provincial Assembly.
During the vote held today, 77 lawmakers cast votes for him whereas 23 were against.
A meeting of the provincial council of ministers in September had decided to summon the new session of the assembly today, in which Chief Minister Raut would seek the vote on the first day.
