Janakpurdham, September 29

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, the constitutional anti-corruption body, has raised the Province 2 Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in Province.

Acting on reports of corruption in a project launched by the office to distribute bicycles for schoolgirls, a joint team of the CIAA central office in Kathmandu and the regional office in Bardibas raided the office this afternoon.

The Lalbabu Raut-led government on July 1, 2019, had decided to distribute 14,000 bicycles for the students of 262 schools in the province. The government had spent Rs 9.42 million on the project.

The bicycles were distributed without assessing the need. Further, the Office of the Auditor-General in its recent report had said whether the children got the bicycles is not confirmed yet.
