Nepal PM says he will talk with India for railway and waterway connectivity

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addresses the House of Representatives meeting, in Kathmandu, on Tuesday, April 3, 2018.

Kathmandu, April 3

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is embarking on a three-day state visit to India this Friday, says he will talk with the New Delhi government about connecting the two countries via railway and waterway.

Informing the House of Representatives about his visit agendas, the Prime Minister said he would also talk with the southern neighbour about cooperation in the agriculture sector.

Oli said he wanted to develop a reliable friendship with the neighbours. “For that, we have to take equality and non-interference as foundations of the relationship.”

Oli clarified that he would focus on implementing past agreements rather than signing new ones. Likewise, he said he would take initiatives to release the assistance committed by India for post-earthquake reconstruction here.

“Rest assured that I will not do anything that puts our country into disadvantage or which makes us bow down.”
