Design and display

Poco F3 GT shares a similar design to Poco F3. Talking about the build of the phone, it has a glass front and glass back whereas there is a metal frame on the phone. The glass on the front and back of the phone is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, making it a tough phone. The phone has a width of 76.9mm and is 8.3mm thick and weighs around 205 grams.

Specially designed for gaming, the Poco F3 GT has physical trigger buttons on the phone itself, which can be opened with sliders that are on the side. This is something innovative that can be a handy feature for all gamers.

There is a 6.67-inch FHD+ Turbo AMOLED centre punch-hole display on the phone that has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 480Hz. F3 GT has a 10-bit display panel that boasts over 1 billion colours and also it has 100% DCI-P3 coverage and HDR 10+ support. The thin bezels make the screen-to-body ratio of the phone 86.3% while the maximum resolution is 1,080*2,400 pixels.

Performance and battery life

Poco F3 GT runs on Android 11 with NIUI 12.5 for POCO on top. The device is powered by the flagship-level Mediatek Dimensity 1200 5G (6nm) chipset. This chipset features three Cortex-A78 and four Cortex-A55 CPU cores while the graphics are handled by Mali-G77 MC9.

Giving life to Poco F3 GT is a 5065mAh non-removable Li-Po battery that supports 67W fast charging. With this power level, the phone gets fully charged in just 42 minutes.

Cameras

Poco F3 GT boasts a triple camera setup on the rear, and the camera bump is minimal. The bump also has a metal enclosing that protects the lenses from scratches. It boasts a 64MP main camera, accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide camera with a FOV of 120 degrees and a 2MP macro camera. An interesting addition to the camera module on the back is the tactical RGB glow that alerts the users of notifications. Another interesting thing is it has sliced up the LED flash by giving it a lightning like-shape.

At the front, there is a 16MP camera enclosed inside the punch hole. The rear camera can record videos in 4K but only in 30fps, and the front camera is limited to only 1080p.

Storage, connectivity and others

Poco F3 GT comes with two internal storage options of 128GB and 256GB and has RAM options of 6GB and 8GB. There is no option to extend the storage with a microSD card.

The phone supports a 5G network but only supports a few bands. It also supports dual-Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1 and a USB Type-C 2.0. The phone does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack but has stereo speakers tuned by JBL.

The price of the Poco F3 GT is Rs 56,999 for the 8/256GB variant, which is the only variant available in Nepal at the moment.

Verdict

Poco F3 GT is a good phone if you are considering buying a gaming phone, yet it does not cost you a fortune. It has all the necessary features a gaming phone should have. It has a flagship-level chipset, a huge battery backup that supports a 67W fast charging and a 480Hz touch sampling rate. It should not have any problem running games even with high graphics. It even has inbuilt triggers for gaming. To cool the phone when it is overheating, there is a vapour chamber cooling. There are lots of useful features on this phone.

But, if you are looking for a good quality camera, this phone may not be the first choice in this price category. There is a subpar-performing camera on the phone. There are smartphones from Samsung which can capture better pictures and cost lower.

Also, Poco F3 has a Snapdragon 870 chipset while F3 GT has a Mediatek Dimensity 1200. Though Dimensity 1200 is a flagship chipset, it still underperforms compared to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870. It is strange that the company provided a lower-performing chipset on a gaming phone.

Poco F3 GT may not be the best at overall performance, but it surely is made for gaming. If gaming is your priority, you should go for it.
