Xiaomi’s Poco F3 is one of the many Poco series smartphones that has been launched this year. The phone also has been made available in Nepal.

Poco has always been one of the fan favourites as it has established itself as a flagship smartphone among users. Poco has always backed up its reputation by providing some amazing features, and Poco F3 is no exception. It has flagship stereo speakers, smoother UI, better software and many more.

The new Poco F3 also proves a great smartphone in this price category, and it seems it will be tough for others to beat this phone in terms of performance. However, in terms of the cameras on this phone, the device does not look quite advanced and they could have been better.

Yet, the price seems fair as well. Overall, it is undoubtedly a great midrange premium phone and if you are looking for a powerful performance and not great cameras, this can be a good option for you.

There is a 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED display on Poco F3 with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 360Hz. It also has a peak brightness of 1,300 nits, which is great for daytime use. The screen-to-body ratio of this device is 85.9% while it has a maximum resolution of 1,080*2,400 pixels.

Poco F3 is equipped with a triple camera setup on its back and a single camera on the front. There is a 48MP main camera accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide camera with a FOV of 119 degrees and a 5MP macro camera. Also, there is an LED flash resides along with the camera setup. At the front, there is a 20MP camera.

The main camera can record videos in 4K but only up to 30fps. Meanwhile, it can record 1080p up to 60 fps and the camera has a gyro-EIS for stability. The camera on the front can only shoot videos in 1080p and that too in 30fps only.

Performance and battery life

This is the segment where Poco F3 thrives. This device has Poco’s strongest processor to date. The device runs on Android 11 with MIUI 12 on top and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G (7nm) chipset. This is one of the flagship smartphone chipsets that has massively improved the performance of the phone. This device can be great for high-graphics gaming.

Giving life to the phone is a 4520mAh non-removable Li-Po battery that supports 33W fast charging. The company claims the phone can be fully charged in just 52 minutes. This battery provides 268 hours on standby, 10 hours of gaming, 14 hours of videos and 149 hours of music playback time.

This device also has LiquidCool Technology 1.0 Plus. When carrying out heavy tasks, the processor is cooled down immediately. The three-dimensional heat dissipation system diffuses the heat more efficiently so that the phone does not overheat.

Storage and connectivity

Poco F3 comes with LPDDR5 RAM + UFS 3.1 storage and has two storage and RAM options. You can get either a 6/128GB or 8/256GB variant. There is no slot for the external memory on the phone.

Connecting the phone is a dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1 and USB Type-C 2.0. The phone also supports a 5G network although, unfortunately, you do not have access to the service in Nepal yet. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack on the phone, but the audio quality is superb as the phone has Dolby Atmos Hi-Res Audio certification for dual speakers.

The price of Poco F3 is Rs 46,999 for 6/128GB and Rs 51,999 for 8/256GB variant.

Verdict

Poco F3 is a great smartphone in this price category and performance-wise, it will be pretty tough for others to beat this phone. The 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate combined with a flagship Snapdragon 870 5G chipset mean smooth sailing whatever you do on the phone. The build quality of the phone is also premium for this price range. The Dolby Atmos audio on the phone makes the audio quality better for the users. Even some flagship smartphones from last year did not have these kinds of features on them and they cost double the amount.

Yet, one major drawback of this phone is its camera. The cameras on the phone are not so sharp and perform below compared to other phones of a similar category. There is a 4K video option but is limited to 30fps only. The cameras are not that bad, but they should have been better given that everything else on the phone is top-notch.
