Kathmandu, August 11
As Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is leaving for his first official foreign visit to India on August 23, the government is busy preparing agendas for the trip.
Sources close to PM Deuba say he will prioritise implementation of agreements signed between two countries during his previous visits as the Prime Minister.
On the top will be Pancheshwor multi-purpose project that he had signed an agreement for during his first premiership around two decades ago.
Though Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stressed implementation of the project during his Nepal visit in 2014, the detail project report for Pancheshwor is yet to be prepared.
“Discussions will be held with Indian authorities on which past projects are in what status, why they could not be implemented and how they can be forwarded,” PM’s foreign affairs advisor Dinesh Bhattarai says, adding the final list of agendas is yet to be prepared.
Currently, ministries are holding discussions and the agendas will be finalised by next week.
Though Deuba had a meeting with Indian Minister for External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, yesterday, no discussion was held about his India visit, according to sources.
