Kathmandu, May 8

Former finance minister and a leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, Surendra Pandey, has demanded that there are limits on how high and deep people can go to use their land.

Pandey suggests people should not be allowed to use an unlimited height and depth of the land they own.

Speaking at a meeting of the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives on Thursday, Pandey said the annual budget plan the government would announce later this month should take initiatives towards that.

He claimed some other countries in the world had already introduced such provisions.

Speaking at the meeting, another former finance minister and Samajwadi Party Nepal leader Baburam Bhattarai criticised the government’s annual policy and programme for being more political than economic.
