Kathmandu, April 10

The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has accused the government of suspending the central bank’s governor Maha Prasad Adhikari to cover its own failures.

Three leaders of the CPN-UML who were finance ministers in different periods organised a press conference and informed the public of the party’s official statement on the issue.

Bishnu Paudel, Surendra Pandey and Yuba Raj Khatiwada said the country’s economic situation was okay until the party’s chairman KP Sharma Oli-led government was ruling the country, but the new government, with its several failures, took it to an economic crisis.

The party has urged the government to withdraw the decision and stay focused on improving the situation.

Earlier last week, the government had suspended NRB Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari, accusing him of leaking sensitive information, in preparation to remove him.
