Opposition parties demand government convene parliament session immediately

Kathmandu, November 2

Opposition parties have demanded that the government convene a parliament session as soon as possible.

A meeting of opposition parties, held on Monday at the call of the Nepali Congress, called on the government to convene the session immediately.

Nepal Communist Party leader Pramesh Hamal, who took part in the meeting, said the parties had demanded that the government call a parliament session.

“On behalf of the opposition parties, we have decided to demand that a parliament session be convened as soon as possible,” he said after the meeting.

Hamal said the meeting decided that a session should be convened to seriously discuss people’s issues, national interests, democracy and some of the questions raised about the constitution.

He said the meeting held serious discussions on current political issues. The discussions, he said, showed that there are serious problems in Nepal’s political circles.

“Serious questions have been raised about national interests,” Hamal said. “Similarly, we held serious discussions on people’s livelihoods, relief for people from disasters, and reconstruction.”
