The government has decided to end the ongoing session of the Federal Parliament on Thursday.

A cabinet meeting held at the prime minister’s residence in Baluwatar this afternoon decided to recommend the proroguing. As per the constitution, the president calls for the opening and closing of a Federal Parliament session.

The current session had begun on May 8.

Among other achievements, this session of Parliament endorsed the second constitution amendment and the annual budget plan for the next fiscal year 2020/21. It, however, failed to elect the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.
