Oli, Dahal ‘not talking’ since cabinet reshuffle

Kathmandu, October 18

Two chairpersons of the ruling Nepal Communist Party have not talked with each other since the recent cabinet reshuffle on October 14.

When Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli extended his cabinet without another chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s approval, Dahal was unhappy. Oli had inducted three ministers into his cabinet, and they were all from his own faction.

Oli telephoned Dahal on Saturday to invite him to Baluwatar to meeting the party’s leaders from Karnali in his bid to settle the dispute surfaced in the province. However, Dahal told the prime minister that he also talked to the leaders separately, refusing to visit him.

Before the cabinet reshuffle, Oli and Dahal were meeting almost every day to discuss various issues related to the party. However, after Oli did not heed his suggestions in reshuffling the cabinet, Dahal seems unhappy with the prime minister.
