Nepal Students’ Union activists staged a protest outside Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Monday, accusing the KP Sharma Oli government of shielding black marketers and education mafia.

The activists from the main opposition Nepali Congress-aligned union displayed empty cooking gas cylinders, empty water jars and utensils drawing the government’s attention towards inflation and shortage of essentials.

Addressing a corner meeting on the occasion, NSU leader Dipak Bhattarai criticised the government for not bothering to control black marketers and education mafia.

Another leader, Lila Ballav Dahal, accused the government of shielding black marketers. He said students themselves should go for market monitoring to control inflation and end the artificial shortage of essentials. Dahal accused the government of not being able to do anything for earthquake victims.

Manoj Vaidhya, president of NSU’s Kathmandu chapter, said they will launch a nationwide movement if the government does not heed their call.
