Dhangadhi, March 24

A few dozen Nepalis who were coming to Nepal from India have been stopped at the Gauriphanta border point near Kailali district of far-western Nepal as the government has imposed a lockdown in its bid to control the coronavirus spread in the country.

However, those stopped across the border have chanted slogans against the government, claiming it barred them from entering the country in such hard times. Subsequently, tension has run high in the area.

Kailali’s Chief District Officer Yagya Raj Bohora says he is waiting for an order from the Ministry of Home Affairs about how to deal with them.

After the government decided to impose the lockdown from this morning, the ministry has already directed subordinate bodies to ensure its implementation effectively.

Until yesterday, the security personnel had allowed the Nepalis to enter the country through the government had already decided to close the cross-border human movement.
