Nepali Embassy in Bangladesh advises students to stay indoors amid protests

Kathmandu, July 17

The Nepali Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has issued an advisory urging Nepali students to stay indoors and avoid leaving their residences or hostels unless for essential reasons.

In light of ongoing protests in Bangladesh against the government’s job quota system, the embassy has emphasised the importance of safety and has requested students to contact the embassy if they need to relocate to a safer location. The embassy reassured that it is in continuous contact with the colleges where Nepali students are enrolled.

The protests, which have led to the deaths of six individuals, have prompted the closure of schools and universities across Bangladesh until further notice.

Bangladesh is a popular destination for Nepali students, especially those pursuing medical education. The embassy’s advisory aims to ensure the safety and well-being of these students during the ongoing unrest.
