Kathmandu, May 4
The government has decided to call back the Nepali Ambassador to Australia, Mahesh Raj Dahal.
A cabinet meeting on Sunday decided to call back Dahal, who was sent to the Canberra mission in November 2019 after incumbent Lucky Sherpa was drawn into a controversy related to a human trafficking charge in early 2019.
Dahal is close to the CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and it is reported that his political belief was the reason for being called back.
Dahal informs Onlinekhabar that Chief Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi has already informed him of the cabinet decision.
It is not immediately clear who will replace Dahal in an important diplomatic position.
