Cabinet meeting decisions: Key resolutions announced

The government has announced the major decisions taken during the cabinet meeting held on Sunday afternoon.

The meeting began at 1 pm at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and concluded a short while ago. Among other resolutions, the cabinet approved concessional loans from the World Bank and declared Saturday and Sunday as holidays for government offices and educational institutions. It also decided that the upcoming academic session will start from Baisakh 15, 2083 BS.

Key decisions of the cabinet meeting:

  • Accept concessional loans totalling USD 90 million for the Digital Nepal Transformation Project, with USD 40 million from the Asian Development Bank and USD 50 million from the World Bank.
  • Accept a concessional loan of USD 95 million from the World Bank for the Sustainable and Inclusive Finance Project.
  • Grant prior approval for surveys on the organisation and management of all ministries, secretariats, commissions, and their subordinate bodies of the Government of Nepal.
  • Approve the resignation of Dharmendra Jha, Executive Chairperson of the National News Agency.
  • Declare Saturday and Sunday as holidays for government offices and all educational institutions starting Chaitra 23, 2082 BS, due to disruptions in petroleum supply.
  • Maintain office hours from 9 am to 5 pm for all offices except educational institutions.
  • Make the necessary legal arrangements to convert diesel and petrol vehicles to electric vehicles.
  • Start the upcoming academic session from Baisakh 15, 2083 BS.

These decisions aim to improve administrative efficiency, promote sustainable development, and address ongoing logistical challenges.
