Nepal Covid-19 tally: 8,454 new cases, 4,433 recoveries, 5 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,054,088 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry said 8,454 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 13,549 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 5,571 returned positive. Likewise, 6,810 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 2,883 tested positive.

Of total tests, 41.11 per cent of the PCR and 42.33 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 41.52 per cent.

As of today, there are 90,067 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,819 are hospitalised, 251 in intensive care units, and 48 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 4,433 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were five deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 831,712 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,672 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 89.1 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 256,416 people were vaccinated today.
