Kathmandu, January 26

The National Statistics Office, the successor of the erstwhile Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), says the final report of the national population census 2021 is ready and the prime minister will unveil it at his convenience.

The bureau released the preliminary details of the 2021 census in January 2022. According to the preliminary results, the total population of Nepal is 29,192,480 with a population growth rate of 0.93 per cent.

An official says the office finalised the report over a month ago and sought the time of then prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to publish it. Now, after the government change, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is expected to complete the formality, it has been learned.

The office had earlier said it would make the final report of the national population census 2021 public by the end of December 2022.
