Japan Covid-19 vaccine donation to Nepal: Final lot arrives in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, August 23

The final lot of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines donated by Japan to Nepal has arrived in Kathmandu on Monday.

Japan had promised to give Nepal 1.6 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines. and with 559,000 doses arriving on Monday, all the doses have arrived, informs the Health Ministry spokesperson Dr Krishna Prasad Paudel.

By today, the government received 1 million and 614,740 doses from Japan, according to him.

Meanwhile, Nepal will soon receive 1.6 million doses of the Vero Cell vaccines to be donated by China, according to Paudel.

Nepal has so far received over 14 million vaccines in grants and purchases. Nearly four million people have received all doses required whereas around one million are waiting for their second dose.
