Japan to provide AstraZeneca vaccines that could be used for waiting 65+ group

Kathmandu, July 13

A ray of hope for senior citizens above 65 years of age who are waiting for the second dose of the Covishield Covid-19 vaccine for the past few months–Japan is providing some AstraZeneca vaccines to various Asian countries including Nepal.

As Covishield was also the AstraZeneca type, the vaccine to be provided by Japan could be administered to the 65+ waiting group.

During a regular press conference in Tokyo on Tuesday, Japanese Foreign Affairs Minister Motegi Toshimitsu made the announcement.

In total, Japan announced to distribute 11 million doses of the vaccines to various countries in this phase. Japan had donated vaccines to various other countries in the past also.
