Standing Committee member of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Janardan Sharma has said that the local governments should monitor the national pride projects within their territory.

Sharma’s statement comes at a time when the government is reportedly preparing a law to keep big infrastructure projects under the Prime Minister’s office.

Former Minister Sharma, who arrived in Baglung to monitor the Mid-Hill Highway, suggested that the local levels monitor construction works of the national pride projects since they were the primary beneficiaries of the projects.

During an interaction programme with the NCP leaders and cadres and people’s representatives in Baglung, Sharma said that the government should avert the problem of budget crunch and bring the sluggish contractors to book, adding that the Mid-Hill Highway would play a crucial role to prosper the district.

On the occasion, Mayor of Baglung Municipality Janak Raj Poudel and leaders of the NCP urged leader Sharma to take initiatives for the speedy blacktopping of Baglung-Bihun road section of the Mid-Hill Highway.
