Claiming that their settlement was inundated due to the Gandak dam, locals of Susta in Nawalparasi district have begun to ‘pull down’ the dam.
The local administration, however, has intervened in the situation and is trying to convince people to stop the destruction.
In recent rainfalls, some settlements of the area had been inundated and locals had blamed the dam constructed by India for the flooding.
Around 200 locals have gathered at the dam, trying to break it.
Chief District Officer Udaya Bahadur Rana says, “Locals have reached the dam demanding water of their fields be sent to the canal. But, we have stopped them saying we need to talk with the Indian side.”
