India has already sent diplomatic note protesting Nepal map: Bidari

The new political map of the country issued by the government of Nepal, on Monday, May 18, 2020, and launched on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

Kathmandu, July 9

A leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party has claimed India has already sent a diplomatic note to the government of Nepal, protesting Nepal’s move to issue a new political map of the country by incorporating the disputed Kalapani-Limpiyadhura region.

Immediately after Nepal launched the new map on May 20, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs had commented that it could not accept the map, dubbing it ‘an artificial enlargement of territorial claims’. The government of Nepal, however, has not reported the receipt of the diplomatic note regarding this issue.

However, Ram Narayan Bidari, the chairperson of the Delegated Rights Management and Government Assurance Committee in the National Assembly, said during a meeting of the committee today the government received the note on June 24.
