Kathmandu, September 10

The federal government has planned to build 649 five-bed hospitals in 649 local units of the country.

Once the plan is fully implemented, all of 753 local units of the country will have at least one hospital. Currently, only 104 units have hospital facilities.

The government will spend Rs one million to construct each hospital. The funds will be spent from the Covid-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment Fund. An official says the Financial Comptroller General Office has already released the funds.

If the amount turns out to be insufficient, the concerned local unit should fulfil.

The Ministry of Health and Population has finalised criteria for such a hospital.

Each hospital will have one doctor, two nurses and one assistant. All three levels of governments will work together in the hospitals’ operation.
