The government has decided to establish a new hospital dedicated to doctors working across the country. A cabinet meeting on Monday decided to form a committee to find a land plot for the construction of the hospital.

Dr Bimal Chalise leads the five-member committee, informs Education Secretary Ram Prasad Thapaliya. The committee has been given two months to find land for the project.

“Following that, we will begin the construction work.”

Thapaliya says the hospital is likely to be built either in Kathmandu or in Chitwan. The hospital is expected to benefit over 300,000 teachers currently working in the country.

Other members of the committee are representatives of the Ministry of Education and teachers.

Finance Minister Janardan Sharma had allocated a fund for the hospital in his revised annual budget for this fiscal year.
