Kathmandu, December 18

The government on Sunday sealed five driving schools of the capital, accusing them of operating without due approval.

A team of the Department of Supply Management and Protection of Consumers Interests monitored eight driving schools and shut five down yesterday. The Department says those taken action against were either operating without registration and/or permits to teach driving.

U-turn Driving Institute in Sanepa, Mahalaxmi Driving Institute and Mega Driving Institute in Dhobighat, Perfect Vehicles School and Enterprises in Radheradhe and Angel Motor Driving Centre in Tinkune were sealed.

“Operators of driving schools should get an approval from the Department of Transport Management or officers under it,” a monitoring official, Shree Adhikari, says, “But, we found that most of them do not have such permits. Or they were not renewed.”

Meanwhile, the monitoring team also directed three other schools to improve physical infrastructures.
