Gandaki govt urges centre to open fuel depot in Tanahun

The Gandaki provincial government has decided to establish a petroleum storage depot in Aanbukhaireni of Tanahun district.

A meeting of the provincial Council of Ministers on Sunday made the decision to take initiatives for establishing the depot in a 400 ropani land in Aanbukhaireni-2. The meeting decided to recommend for the establishment to the federal government.

Earlier, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment had formed a committee to identify possible places for the depot. The committee led by Urmila Kaphle, the chief of Commerce and Supplies Division, had recommended Shuklagandaki and Aanbukhaireni of Tanahun for the district.

The government spokesperson Ram Sharan Basnet said Aanbukhaireni was selected on the basis of availability of land and other facilities.

Only 60 ropani land of the total 400 ropani is public in the selected place. But, the government will acquire the other land plots from individuals, according to him.
