Kathmandu, November 23
The campaign led by Durga Prasai—Rastra, Rashtriyata, Dharma, Sanskriti Bachau Abhiyan (Campaign to Save the Nation, Nationalism, Religion, and Culture)—has decided to withdraw the protest programs it had planned for tomorrow.
The decision came after talks with the government at Baluwatar on Saturday evening.
Representing the government were Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, the Prime Minister’s Chief Advisor Ajay Bahadur Khanal, Advisor Govinda Narayan Timilsina, and others.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the two sides agreed to withdraw the protest planned for tomorrow and to hold another round of dialogue with the campaign’s leadership as soon as possible.
The meeting also held detailed discussions on the 27-point demands raised by the campaign.
It was agreed that, considering the current law and order situation, the government would continue dialogue, negotiation, and facilitation to address the issues raised by the Citizens’ Rescue Mega Campaign.
The campaign had earlier announced programs including a Nepal bandh and an indefinite general strike starting from November 23.
The team representing the campaign in the talks was led by Secretary Premdip Limbu, accompanied by advocates Binodmani Bhattarai and Laxman Neupane, and Dr Nirajan Prasai.
Durga Prasai, however, remains in police custody at the Kathmandu District Police Office.
