Government forms team to hold talks with Durga Prasai-led campaign representatives

The government has formed a team to hold talks with representatives of the protesting “Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizen Protection Grand Campaign,” led by Durga Prasai.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers formed the negotiating team under the coordination of Joint Secretary Liladhar Subedi.

The members of the negotiating team are Home Ministry Joint Secretary Anand Kafle, Finance Ministry Joint Secretary Mahesh Acharya, and Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration Joint Secretary Dilaram Panthi.

Earlier, throughout Monday, discussions were held between representatives of the grand campaign and government representatives at the office of Chief District Officer Narahari Ghimire of the Lalitpur District Administration Office.

In the discussion, it was agreed that, as per the campaign’s demand, the Government of Nepal would formally form a negotiating team and invite the protesting side to talks.

Honouring the government’s call for talks, the campaign’s representatives accepted the letter inviting them to negotiations.

According to Prime Minister Balen Shah’s secretariat, the campaign’s representatives present at the discussion were Bishnu Bohara Chhetri, Raju Acharya, Sakuni Singh, Hardev Mahato, Tara Bajgain, and Bijay Thapa.
