Budget session begins; pre-budget discussion Tuesday

Kathmandu, May 22

The budget session of Parliament has begun on Monday.

Commencing the session, Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar read out a letter issued by the President’s Office informing that the President has called the session in accordance with 296.6 of the constitution.

Meanwhile, Speaker Gharti fixed a meeting of the House for Tuesday morning to begin pre-budget discussions.

During the meeting tomorrow, the lawmakers will debate on principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill for the next fiscal year.

Just on Sunday, the Cabinet had endorsed the government’s annual policies and prgorammes, which President Bidya Devi Bhandari will present at the House later this week.

During this session, the government will present the annual budget statement for the next year on May 29.
