An increasing number of patients are recovering and being discharged from hospitals in cholera- and diarrhea-affected Birgunj.
According to the data made public by the District Public Health Office, Parsa at 11 AM on Tuesday, 171 patients of cholera and diarrhea have been discharged after treatment.
Since Friday, 391 patients suffering from diarrhea and cholera have been admitted for treatment in more than a dozen hospitals in Birgunj.
Currently, 220 patients with diarrhea and cholera are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals, said Jaymod Thakur, Chief of the District Public Health Office, Parsa, to Onlinekhabar.
According to Thakur, the highest number of cholera and diarrhea patients are undergoing treatment at Narayani Hospital, where 106 patients are admitted.
Similarly, 33 patients are receiving treatment at Terai Hospital, 31 at National Medical College, and 20 at Birgunj Health Care Hospital.
Likewise, 9 patients are admitted at Sarvottam Hospital, 6 at Advance Hospital, 5 at Prabhu Hospital, 3 at Nilkantha Hospital & Research Center, and 2 at Narayani Central Hospital.
In addition, one patient each is being treated at Asharam Hospital, Birgunj Neuro & General Hospital, Sparsh MS Hospital, Bhawani Hospital, and Ali Earth Hospital.
Although the number of patients being discharged after treatment is increasing, the confirmation of new cholera cases has not stopped.
Between 4 PM on Monday and 11 AM on Tuesday, cholera infection was confirmed in 95 diarrhea patients, Thakur informed.
According to him, cholera infection was confirmed in 32 patients each at Narayani Hospital and Terai Hospital, and in 13 patients at National Medical College.
Similarly, 3 new cholera patients were found each at Bhawani Hospital, Birgunj Healthcare, and Mangalam Pathology.
Cholera infection was also confirmed in 2 diarrhea patients each at Ali Ortho Hospital and Advance Medicare Hospital.
In addition, one cholera case each was confirmed in diarrhea patients at Narayani Central Hospital, Nepal Indo Hospital, Nilkantha Hospital, Nepal Medicity Bayodha Hospital, and Sarvottam Hospital.
According to the District Public Health Office, Parsa, 24 patients are being treated in ICU and 6 in HDU.
At Birgunj Health Care Hospital, 9 patients are in ICU, and 8 patients are in ICU at Terai Hospital.
Likewise, 2 patients each are in ICU at Sarvottam Hospital and Nilkantha Hospital & Research Center, while one patient each is undergoing ICU treatment at National Medical College, Prabhu Hospital, and Bhawani Hospital.
Similarly, 4 patients are being treated in HDU at Terai Hospital, and 1 patient each at Sarvottam MS Hospital and National Medical College.
