Nepal Covid-19 tally: 254 new cases, 234 recoveries, 1 death in 24 hours

Kathmandu, December 12

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 920,004 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 254 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 6,268 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 242 returned positive. Likewise, 2,414 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 12 tested positive.

Of total tests, 3.68 per cent of the PCR and 0.49 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.92 per cent.

As of today, there are 5,890 active cases across the country. Of them, 289 are hospitalised, 118 in intensive care units and 34 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 234 people have achieved recovery whereas one death was reported.

Of the total cases so far, 806,778 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,554 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.9 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 69,580 people were vaccinated today.
