Appointments revoked to ‘salvage political morality’: Minister Banskota

Gokul Prasad Banskota

Kathmandu, July 4

Responding to queries about the government’s decision to invalidate appointments made during Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government after implementation of election code of conduct, the government spokesperson Gokul Prasad Banskota said that the decision was made to ‘salvage political morality’ in the country.

Baskota said that the appointments were nullified with an aim to minimise politicisation of such positions in the country.

“The appointments were scrapped with an objective to end the trend of misusing the power and position,” he said talking to Onlinekhabar.

“The political appointments made by Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government after implementation of the code is illegal. Everybody said there was the scarcity of political morality. Filling the vacant posts after losing the power is a dearth of political morality,” he added.

“This is a good start of a political process with high political morality. The appointments were made spending huge election budgets. Therefore, withdrawing these decisions is breaking the dearth of political morality in the country,” said Baskota.
