Nepali Congress on scrapping of appointments: Government instigating ‘political conflict’

Nepali Congress Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma

Kathmandu, July 5

The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has accused the incumbent government of instigating a political conflict with its decision to nullify appointments made by the government led by its President Sher Bahadur Deuba after August 30 last year, the date the election code of conduct came into force.

With the scrapping of dozens of appointments as per the Cabinet decision yesterday, jobs of many persons including Province Chiefs of all provinces are at stake.

The meeting of the Council of Minister held till late Wednesday night had decided to nullify all the appointments made from August 30, 2017, to January 2, 2018. Nominations made at various authorities, organisations, councils, boards, committees, and other companies of working under different ministries were nullified by the decision.

Talking to Onlinekhabar, Congress Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma says, “Instead of taking the political parties aboard with political agreements, the two-thirds majority government instigated a political conflict in the country.”

Similarly, Sharma further stated that the government must clarify the reason behind the decision.

If already sworn-in Province Chiefs get fired, the members of National Assembly and even the post of Prime Minister will become illegal by default as provincial lawmakers, who were administered the oath by Province Chiefs, elected the National Assembly, argues Sharma.
