3 parties positive on holding Phase-II polls on June 14

Kathmandu, May 8

A meeting of major three parties held to discuss complexities about the dates of budget announcement and second phase of local level elections concluded positively on Sunday evening.

The leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre are positive about bringing the budget plan for next fiscal year without incorporating new programmes on May 29 and holding the polls on June 14,  according to a leader privy to recent discussions.

Earlier, the UML had been adamant that the budget plan could not be introduced between two phases of elections and hence the polls should be preponed to a date earlier than May 29.

But, the Election Commission has been saying that the polls could not be held as early as May 29.

Meanwhile, the UML became quite flexible after the ruling parties assured that the plan would not incorporate any new programme, the leader said.
