Mi 11 Lite 5G is the latest release from the smartphone company, Xiaomi, which probably has become the biggest smartphone company in Nepal of late. Its mid-range and budget-range category phones are the major factors for its success here.

Xiaomi has been producing some very good smartphones at an unbelievably affordable price. Likewise, it has been bringing some really exceptional smartphones here in Nepal. Its Mi 11 Lite was probably the best smartphone in the mid-range category. And, now, it has launched an updated version, Mi 11 Lite 5G, which comes with upgrading in all aspects. But, with these updates, the price has also significantly gone up, so it is your choice if it is still a value for money.

Display and design

Like its 4G counterpart, Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G features a similar 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED Dot display panel with a left-aligned punch-hole cutout. The panel has a 10-bit colour depth and supports the DCI-P3 wide colour gamut. The brightness in this phone can reach up to a maximum of 800nits.

The phone also has a 90Hz refresh rate and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. This can be really great during intense gaming. The display protection has been updated here and the company now has gone with Gorilla Glass 6 this time.

Looking at the back of the phone, it has a similar camera module to that of Mi 11, its flagship phone. The phone weighs around 159 grams and is only 6.81mm thick. This makes the Mi 11 Lite 5G one of the lightest and slimmest phones available in the market.

Cameras

The camera module on Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G is the same as that of 11 Lite. The phone has a triple camera setup on its rear. The main 64MP primary camera uses a 6P lens with an f/1.79 aperture. Accompanying the main camera is an 8MP sensor that has a 119º field of view, which can be really great for capturing the landscapes. Similarly, the 5MP sensor has a telemacro lens. It can focus on objects between 3 and 7cm distances. It can record videos in 4K but only in 30fps.

The selfie camera on the phone has got an upgrade. Previously, there was a 16MP camera, but now there is a 20MP camera on the front. The frame rate of videos has also been increased to 60fps from 30 while the resolution remains at 1080p.

Performance and battery life

Mi 11 Lite 5G runs on Android 11 with MIUI 12 on top. The device has an updated Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G (5nm) chipset while the graphics are handled by Adreno 642. This is a boost in the performance compared to its 4G counterpart.

Giving power to the phone is a 4,250mAh non-removable Li-Po battery that supports a 33W fast charger. The phone also supports Quick charge 4+ and power delivery 3.0.

Storage and connectivity

Mi 11 Lite 5G gives users the option to choose between 6GB and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM while the storage options on the phone are 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The internal memory of the phone can be further expanded by a microSDXc card, but there is no dedicated slot for the card. So if you want to further extend your phone’s memory, you will have to give up one of your sim cards.

Connecting Mi 11 Lite 5G are WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and 5G connection. The phone has a dual speaker setup with Hi-Res Audio. Unfortunately, there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack onboard here as well.

The price of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G in Nepal is Rs 45,999 for 8/128GB and Rs 48,999 for the 8/256GB variant.

Verdict

Mi 11 Lite was already one of the best mid-range phones available in the Nepali market. The new upgrades may finally make it the undisputed king in this category. Along with 5G capability, the new Mi 11 Lite also has a better front camera. The graphics are upgraded, so is the chipset powering the phone. This will make the phone faster than before.

As there are improvements in the performance of the phone, the price has also increased rapidly. Mi 11 Lite was priced at Rs 34,999 for the 6/128GB variant. But, although people cannot enjoy the 5G feature at the moment in Nepal, the 5G version costs way more than that.

Yet, while saying that, you must also take into consideration the performance of Mi 11 Lite 5G is rarely matched by others in the same category. So do you think the upgrades are worth the increase in the price?
