Xiaomi Civi 1S has a glass front, glass back and an aluminium build. The gradient flash diamond texture provides a pleasing look to the back panel of the phone. Xiaomi has advertised that its look is like the stars in the Milky Way galaxy. The design of the camera panel is also neat and does not occupy a huge space. Similarly, the curve edges on the phone allow a better grip for the users. The vertical Xiaomi branding looks neat as usual. However, there is no official IP rating on the phone.

Xiaomi claims the design of Xiaomi Civi 1S has undergone repeated polishing, hence presenting a thin and delicate body line. The phone weighs only 166 grams and is 6.98mm in thickness. This makes Xiaomi Civi 1S one of the lightest and slimmest smartphones available on the market. It is available in black, blue, pink and silver colour variants.

On the front is a 6.55-inch centre punch hole OLED display that offers a resolution of 1,080*2,400 pixels with 402 PPI density. The ultra-narrow bezels on the phone offer a bigger field of view while the HDR10+ and Dolby Vision features provide an enhancement in the colour and contrast of the media. The display supports up to 120Hz refresh rate and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. Similarly, it can also reach a peak brightness of up to 950 nits, which is impressive. The display has Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The main 64MP camera is housed together with 8MP, 120-degrees FOV ultrawide and 2MP macro sensors. On the front is a 32MP selfie shooter. There are so many creative camera modes on the phone. The main camera on the back and the front camera have autofocus mode for quick snap whereas the rear camera also has an EIS feature.

Some of the interesting camera modes include vlog video, voice caption, motion capture, time-lapse photography, video filter, video beauty, video super stabilisation, 960fps slow motion shooting and macro video.
