With an announcement of Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi that the Tatopani border point between the two countries, closed since the disastrous 2015 April earthquake, will reopen next week, the Nepali side has also expedited preparations.

Till a few days ago, stakeholders were worried about the status of a bridge over Sandhikholsa rivulet in Khursani Bazaar of Barhabise Municipality. However, a 14 metre bailey bridge has recently been installed as a temporary solution.

A permanent bridge will replace the bailey bridge next year.

The bridge was swept away by a flash flood last year.

Barhabie mayor Nimphunjo Sherpa informs that the local government will also construct a dyke on the riverbanks soon.

Meanwhile, the Araniko Highway, connecting Kathmandu and the border point, is being renovated at various places, according to the Division Road Office in Dolakha.
