UML announces nationwide protests against Oli’s arrest

Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) has announced a series of nationwide protests opposing the arrest of its party chair KP Sharma Oli.

A central secretariat meeting of the party held on Tuesday decided to organise demonstrations across the country starting from Chaitra 24, according to General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.

He said the party has decided to hold mass gatherings of cadres in all districts on Chaitra 24. Following this, protests will be organised progressively at the municipal, ward, and provincial levels, eventually culminating in demonstrations centred in the capital.

According to the party, ward-level gatherings will be held on Baisakh 3, followed by protests in provincial capitals on Baisakh 7. A major protest rally and assembly have been scheduled in Kathmandu on Baisakh 12.
