Two former Nepali Police chiefs convicted of corruption jailed

Kathmandu, June 21

Two former inspector generals of Nepal Police, Om Bikram Rana and Hem Bahadur Gurung, convicted of corruption in sending consignments to Nepal Police peacekeeping troop in Sudan have been jailed on Wednesday.

The Supreme Court on April 30 had convicted them along with another ex-IGP Ramesh Chand Thakuri, former AIG Deepak Singh Thangden and former DIG Deepak Shrestha in the years-old case.

Thangden and Shrestha have also been sent to the Dillibazaar Jail along with Rana and Gurung.

The convicts had surrendered to the apex court today.

Another convict, Thakuri, is yet to be sent to jail.
