Traders say Tatopani infrastructures ‘not enough’ for reopening

Kathmandu, May 26

A team of traders and businesspersons on Saturday visited the Nepal-China border point in Tatopani, which the two countries are preparing to resume commercial activities through by the end of this week.

The traders then commented that physical infrastructures including a road to accept the place were not sufficiently repaired and updated to resume the commercial activities halted since the 2015 earthquake.

Naresh Katwal, President of the National Micro Entrepreneurs Federation, says, “The road is still miserable. The government should be serious about such infrastructures and security of the businesses.”

Meanwhile, Katwal demanded that the businesspersons be allowed to access customs officials directly whereas middlemen be removed from the point.”

On the other hand, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa also visited the border area on Saturday. He assured that traders that the government was serious about securing their investment.
