Export of tea from Mechi Customs Office has increased by 46.10 per cent in the 10 months of the current fiscal year. According to the Office, tea worth Rs 3.68 billion has been exported, against tea worth Rs 2.52 billion exported in the same period of the previous fiscal year 2080/81BS.
Information Officer of the Office Ishwar Kumar Humagain said that 13,886.77 metric tons of tea was exported in the 10 months of the current fiscal year. However, cardamom exports have decreased by 3.60 percent till the end of the month of Baisakh (mid-May) of the current fiscal year. Cardamom worth Rs 6.66 billion has been exported this fiscal year against worth Rs 6.90 billion in the same period of the last fiscal year.
Increased export was also recorded in Veneer sheet exports by 79 per cent, iron sheet by 7.70 per cent, CR sheet by 62.20 per cent, and molasses by 844.30 per cent. Goods worth Rs 21.45 billion have been exported from Mechi Customs in the 10 months of the current fiscal year.
