Kathmandu, November 16

The Supreme Court reinstated the sacked General Manager of National Trading Limited, Purna Shankar Basi.

The government in October 2015 had removed Basi from the top position with charges of financial irregularities. He was also accused of committing a banking fraud while leading the Bajrayogini Traders, a private export company.

Basi, however, had challenged the decision at the Supreme Court claiming he was appointed for four years and removing him from the position before the end of contract would be illegal.

Responding to his petition, the apex court on Monday invalidated the government decision.

The court has said the accusations of irregularities could not be proved.

Now, Basi is all set to resume the office. The Ministry of Supplies, however, is yet to receive the court order, according to the Ministry’s Joint-Secretary Urmila Aryal.
