Biratnagar, June 30
A head constable of Nepal Police has committed suicide in Sunsari, Province 1, on Monday.
Om Prakash Khatiwada was mobilised as the bodyguard for district judge Shankar Bahadur Rai.
The 35-year-old policeman shot at his temple with his own pistol on the District Court premises at around 7:30 pm yesterday, according to police. Injured in the suicide attempt, he died during treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences at around 9 pm, informs SP Kamal Thapa of the District Police Office.
A permanent resident of Urlabari in the neighbouring Morang district, Khatiwada had returned to work from him home just a few days back.
The police are investigating to find out why he killed himself.
