Student unions withdraw educational strike after nine-point agreement

Student unions hold meeting with Ministry of Education on Monday, July 2, 2018.

Kathmandu, July 3

Nine student unions have withdrawn their three-day educational strike programme on Tuesday.

A meeting held between the unions, private school operators and the Ministry of Education till late night Monday decided to withdraw the strike after a nine-point agreement was reached.

Earlier, the student unions had announced educational strike from Wednesday.

The decision was revoked after the private school operators agreed to adjust and revise the fees unnecessarily increased earlier, informed Alok Rayamajhi, chairman of a protesting student union.

It has been learned that the meeting had continued for seven hours.

Joint Secretary at the Ministry Surya Prasad Gautam, Department of Education Director General Baburam Poudel, PABSON Acting President DK Dhungana, and NPABSON President Rituraj Sapkota were present at the meeting.

The Kathmandu District Administration Office on Monday had issued a notice stating that the anybody imposing educational strike will face stern action.
