Sarlahi: Child missing for 5 days found dead in neighbour’s septic tank

A 10-year-old child who was missing from his house at Gamhariya, Malangawa municipality-12 of the Sarlahi district in southern Nepal has been found dead on Thursday morning.

Police recovered the body of Akash Thakur inside the septic tank of his neighbour Jagadish Thakur, informs DSP Madhav Prasad Budhathoki, the Sarlahi District Police Office spokesperson.

A preliminary investigation has found that the child was murdered elsewhere and was thrown into the tank after wrapping it in a sack.

Akash was missing from a feast in the neighbourhood on Sunday. After he did not return home until the late evening, the family had informed the police the same day.

Meanwhile, police have arrested seven persons including Jagadish for their alleged involvement in the murder. Further investigation is underway.

The body has been taken to the Malangawa Hospital for postmortem.
